Off-grid survivalist training is becoming more and more popular. With many people finally seeing first hand just how fragile our supply chain is, it’s now making more and more sense to them to make sure they’re prepared for any unexpected and immediate changes to our way of life.

The food shortages during the Coronavirus pandemic was a great wake up call for many. No longer is prepping and looking into survivalist training left to the tinfoil hat wearing “conspiracy theorist”.

There are verifiable real threats to our food supply, our social framework, our government and our overall stability in life. Survivalist training, meet up groups, education and survival courses are becoming more commonly accepted and promoted.

Contrary to what many people believed for years, you don’t have to be some paranoid, right wing, ex-military militant to think that some some practical prepping and knowing at least some basic survivalist skills is a good idea.

This website is made to help people learn more about the survivalist lifestyle, how going off-grid and building a self-sufficient homestead can be beneficial as well as, learning bushcraft skills and how to be more independent overall.

Modern society has taken a lot of the self-reliance skills of the old days from us. We no longer need to grow our own food, make our own clothes, create our own medicine from plants and provide our own shelter. We outsource all these things now. And although the miracles of technology and infrastructure are amazing and very valuable, they cannot be relied upon fully.

An EMP attack, a bioweapon put in a major water supply, a large natural disaster or abrupt social or political change and reduce our feeble supply chain to a trickle of what it was in a very short period of time. And this is scary for a lot of people. And rightfully so. You’ll find many resources to educate yourself on survivalist skills and other important training here.

The Off-Grid Living Movement

The off-grid living movement has gained major popularity in recent years. Just look at the tiny house revolution. People are looking to downsize and going off grid is the ultimate expression of that.

In the 1980’s and 90’s there was an overwhelming desire and push for gaining more wealth and material things. But over the last 20 years or so, people have come to realize that more isn’t always better.

A huge trend of sustainability and living a low carbon footprint has become the norm. And the off-grid living movement has grown accordingly to reflect that change of outlook.

There are many ways to go off-grid. Survivalists are learning how to generate their own electricity with solar, windmills, hydro-electric energy and more. They’re finding out how to obtain drinking water through various ways as well. Off-grid shelters for housing, off-grid and sustainable farms, etc. People are discovering that a simpler life, unplugged from the stresses of modern society is a favorable alternative to the norm.

Prepping To Be A Prepared Prepper!

Ten years ago, when most people heard the word prepper, they would think of some paranoid nutjob hiding from society and constantly clamoring on about “the communists” and “the government.” No any more. The stigma has been lifted and practical prepping is now accepted as normal.

Preppers come in all shapes and sizes. You do, of course have the over-the-top stereotypes like in the example above. But you also have average people prepping for if the SHTF. More and more social strains and political signs are pointing in the direction of major catastrophes being a real potential.

And being prepared for short term (or even long term) food shortages just seems like a sensible thing to do now. Not only to preppers stockpile goods and supplies, but also learn survivalist skills that would help them through in times of need.

The key to prepping is just doing what you’re comfortable with. The idea is to take some action so you don’t feel completely powerless if and when the SHTF. Just knowing that you have some basic survival skills and prepping knowledge is enough for many to finally allow them to sleep at night during these turbulent times.

The Homestead Lifestyle: Why The Homesteading Revolution Is Growing

The homestead lifestyle is also related to these topics. Homesteading is becoming more and more popular as well. People are becoming more attracted to the idea of living independently of modern trappings.

The homesteading revolution is taking over many parts of the globe. As a global society, we have been steadily losing our freedoms and autonomy. And I believe this counter culture expression of the opposite is an effect of that.

Growing your own food, raising your own livestock, making a lot of the basic needs in life yourself can be fun and fulfilling! You may have noticed a lot of new homestead Youtube channels, blogs, newsletters and websites springing up lately. Going off-grid and starting a homestead is becoming the “cool” thing among many young people now.
